Geminga SNR: Possible Candidate of Local Cosmic-Ray Factory (II)

چکیده

Accurate measurements of the energy spectrum and anisotropy can help us discover local cosmic-ray accelerators. Our recent works have shown that spectral hardening above 200 GeV in spectra transition large-scale at ∼100 TeV are an unifying origin. Less than 100 TeV, both explicitly indicate dominant contribution from nearby sources. Recent observations CR suggest this phase is consistent with locally regular magnetic field (LRMF) interstellar boundary explorer (IBEX) below TeV. In work, we further investigate parameter space sources allowed by observational amplitude dipole anisotropy. To obtain best-fit source parameters, a numerical algorithm to compute posterior distributions based on Bayesian inference. We found combining anisotropy, parameters model be well constrained. The LRMF effect corresponding anisotropic diffusion considered work. Finally, results’ right ascension (R.A.)=3.2 h was obtained fitting, which general agreement experimental observations. Since Geminga SNR very close mean fitted it could candidate for accelerator.

Time Delays in Cosmic Ray Propagation

Cosmic Rays (CR) travel at speeds essentially indistinguishable from the speed of light. However whilst travelling through magnetic fields, both regular and turbulent, they are delayed behind the light since they are usually charged particles and their paths are not linear. Those delays can be so long that they are an impediment to correctly identifying sources which may be variable in time. Fu...

Cosmic X-ray Sources - Ii

During the first discovery flight of ScoX-1 in 1962 an isotropic X-ray background was observed (Giacconi et al. 1962). This had immediate consequences for cosmology. Hoyle’s Hot Universe continuous creation theory could not account for this emission, and this created a major difficulty for the theory as a whole. Burbidge suggested that the emission could be due to the sum of unresolved galaxies...

On the local birth place of Geminga

Using estimates of the distance and proper motion of Geminga and the constraints on its radial velocity posed by the shape of its bow shock, we investigate its birth place by tracing its space motion backwards in time. Our results exclude the λ Ori association as the origin site because of the large distance between both objects at any time. Our simulations place the birth region at approximate...

Search for radiation from the SNR G78.2+2.1: A test of the SNR theory of cosmic ray origin HEGRA collaboration

The SNR G78.2+2.1 is a prime candidate for VHE, UHE gamma emission because of its shock wave expanding into a molecular cloud thus forming the con guration of an accelerator and nearby target [1]. The HEGRA collaboration has made a detailed study of possible gamma emission using the wide angle air Cerenkov detector AIROBICC. The excellent angular resolution of AIROBICC allows for a scan for any...

Galactic modulation of extragalactic cosmic rays: Possible origin of the knee in the cosmic ray spectrum

The existence of the spectral break around ∼ 3 × 10 eV in the cosmic ray spectrum (referred to as the ‘knee’) is one of the biggest questions in cosmic ray astrophysics. At the same time, the origin of cosmic rays above the knee energies (between 10 and 10 eV) is also still unsettled. In this paper, we investigate how the hypothetical extragalactic CRs after modulated by the galactic wind contr...
